Using this to control a stereo single ceiling speaker (two speakers in one), but it could be used for two separate speakers. Heavy, seems well built. For mounting, consider a single-gang trim ring rather than a metal or plastic electrical box as this unit needs a LOT of depth and space behind the wall for itself and the wires (4 in, 4 out).The ceiling speakers are for background in 5 rooms, so 1 of these volume controls in each room. The control lets me adjust as needed within a room, including off.Since I'm connecting to a stereo single speaker, I'm using a cable with 2 pairs (4 wires total), 14 gauge., jacket CL2 rated for plenum spaces. I have one cable coming in to the unit from the stereo source, and another going up from the control to the ceiling speaker.Tip: the wire connectors on the unit can be popped off. This makes it easier to attach the wires to the connector and then plug the connector back into the unit.Pro: Most volume controls just have white faces, knobs and cover, this one has white, ivory and light ivory so I can better match the rest of the room.Con: Lacks a volume number or tick marks. Those would be an improvement. Nice to have, not need to have.
